Carrie Beede

Financial Planning Associate

Philosophy

I’ve heard it said that people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten. This is never more true than with financial goals, and helping people understand the long-term impact of their decisions is rewarding.

What drives me

It is always exciting to get to know someone’s story, and in the world of individual financial planning you get to learn the story and ask the deeper questions early on. Values and fears and goals and tragedies and successes are all intermingled with our financial stories.

What clients have taught me

How you think and feel about your finances can vary as much as flavors of ice cream. No two stories are the same.

Why this career

The financial services industry is an ideal combination of mathematics and personality/behavior. This is an exciting place to be, as human behavior is notoriously hard to model in the pure mathematical world.

Best financial advice ever received

“Compound interest is your friend.” This is only true if you’re on one end of that interest equation, of course, but a reminder nonetheless.

Personality in three words

Detail-minded, observant, dedicated

If I weren’t doing this I’d be…

I truly enjoy teaching, therefore I would be teaching piano or mathematics to others.

Avocations

On my favorite days off you can find me hiking, camping in fire lookouts, playing piano or pipe organ, or baking.

Why Miller Advisors

The joy of working at a smaller firm is that I get to do a little bit of everything.  Serving our clients at every stage in their financial planning and wealth management journey helps us all to foster meaningful relationships, which is what it is all about.

Background

I joined the Miller Advisors team in 2020 and recently became a CFP® candidate.  I have also obtained my Insurance License and several FINRA Licenses.  At Miller Advisors I work closely with the firm’s advisors and our clients to design, implement and update their financial plans.  My interests in teaching and the technical aspects of financial planning enable me to demystify the process and make it more accessible to all of our clients.  Formerly, I worked as a coach for students studying for their college entrance exams.  I have an undergraduate degree in Applied and Computational Mathematical Sciences and a minor in Music from the University of Washington.  I am a native of Washington and live in the Snohomish area, which allows me to enjoy everything outdoors and all the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
