Back in 1946…

Since I just had a birthday, I took some time to look at what was going on in 1946. These are just a few of the many things that I don’t remember happening in 1946:

  • Bikinis go on sale in Paris
  • Tupperware is sold in department and hardware stores
  • Gasoline was 15 cents a gallon. (Wish those days would come back!)
  • Average cost of a new home is $5,600.00
  • “The Christmas Song” was recorded for the first time by Nat King Cole
  • Waterproof diapers along with credit cards were introduced for the first time
  • Tide detergent was first introduced
  • Legos were introduced
  • Candy Land, the board game, was first introduced
